• UNICEF Aid Missions: How to Help

    by  • 12 November 2011 • General News

“Nightline” anchor Cynthia McFadden got the rare opportunity to travel with UNICEF officials on an aid mission to drought-stricken Kenya this week, and report on the devastation facing hundreds of thousands of people.

The widespread famine in East Africa has now long past 100 days.  Refugees continue to pour into the Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya — designed for 90,000 people now housing over 400,000.  Adding to the suffering from the drought  is increasing violence.

UNICEF has been working tirelessly to bring aid and relief to the region but treating malnutrition through therapeutic feeding centers is just one part of their mission. UNICEF is also providing safe water, education supplies, vaccinations and more.
